One material is washed separately to create a two-tone design with light and dark shades.
Sashiko is a technique originally developed in the Tohoku region.
To survive the harsh winters, stitches were sewn to fill the gaps in the fabric, increasing its warmth.
Like judo and kendo uniforms, it's a material that feels somehow warm, imbued with human warmth.
